When I worked in downtown Salt Lake City, there was a Starbucks across the street from me at the Gallivan Center. That pic above shows some of my favorite baristas that worked there. I was really lucky to become as close to them as I did. I was their only customer who got invited to all of their work parties and when they’d go out to play. When I moved to Portland, I realized I’d rarely get to see them anymore and it made me really sad because of how close we had become over the past several years.
Luckily, there was a brand new Starbucks next to my new work in Portland. Surely I could become friends with the baristas there too, right? When Cody and I arrived in PDX on July 19th, we took a walk over to my store. After visiting with my new team, we decided to check out the Starbucks that is literally next door. You’ll never believe who I saw inside. It was John, one of my baristas from the Gallivan Starbucks in Salt Lake City!! I knew he was moving to Portland around the same time as me, and I knew that he was going to be working at one of the hundreds of Starbucks out here, but I had no idea that he was going to be working less than 10 feet away from where I worked. Holy shit! How cool is that? (You should totally click on that image of him to see his 41 megapixel beard. Have I mentioned how much I love my Lumia 1020?) So while I don’t have all of my favorite baristas from SLC, I was lucky enough to get one. Pretty neat, right?
