A Mormon missionary bumped into Jens Lekman in 1997. They cruise through The Book of Mormon and ask each other
What’s our mission?
What are we here for?
Who are we serving?
What can we do?
Jens doesn’t want to talk about religion. Instead, he wants to talk about how it feels
To know your mission
To know what you’re here for
To know who you’re serving
To know what to do
He wants to listen to people’s stories and hear what they have to say. In a world of mouths, he wants to be an ear.
I know what I’m here for
I know who I’m serving
I’m serving you
I love you Jens Lekman! I was that Mormon missionary in the late 90’s. I didn’t know my purpose in life. I didn’t know what I was there for. I wasn’t serving anyone. I didn’t know what to do.
It took years for me to figure it out. I found my goal though. My ultimate goal in life is to make people smile. I want the world to be happy. I know what I’m here for, I know who I’m serving, I’m serving you.
If you haven’t heard of Jens Lekman, I highly recommend giving him a listen. The first track from his new album, Life Will See You Now, is titled “To Know Your Mission”, and I think it’s pretty great. Give it a listen:
And, if you liked his sound, you’ve gotta check out the first single from his newest album, watch it below… But first, a disclaimer… The following video is probably best appreciated while intoxicated on some substance:
Tell me, have you heard of Jens Lekman? What did you think about these two tracks? Let me know in the comments below!
